Markerband swaging and positioning (VCT-series)
The VCT-serie crimper is a modulair design concept of swaging unit and markerband positioning / precrimp unit.
The VCT-serie crimper has been developed for accurate and operator indepent assembly and swaging of markerbands on a innerbody. The tool has been fitted with a sophisticated vision system using a telecentric measuring lens. A LED lighting module provides an evenly distributed amount of light for the vision system to perform accurate measurements of the the markerband positions and the tip end of the innerbody.The VCT-EX serie crimper has been developed for to handle the longer marker distances and is fitted with a modular rapid exchange precrimp unit. This enables switching products without the need for readjusting and realinging parts.
The tool is equipped with a PLC controller for machine level control and a IPC with a touchpanel for operator interface and the vision application. A number of servo motors will position the individual parts within narrow specification. The tool will precrimp the marker bands onto the innerbody. After the positioning and precrimping is completed the assembled product is fed to a swaging unit. This unit will swage the markers into the innerbody. The transport speed is accuratly controlled. The product is fed through the swaging unit. The operator can insert the next product before the previous product is completed, thus reducing cycle times.

MPT Europe BV has developed a radial stent force measurement system. The system uses the stent crimping head technology developed by MPT Europe and is capable of measuring with very high accuracy the radial force versus diameter relation of stents while being underwater in a 37 degrees Celsius waterbath. The technology can be used for temperature sensitive Nitinol stents and also for biodegradable stents. The system can also be used for conventional stents.
